Moussa Dembele has not been named in the full French national side, but I think it is the right decision.

The lad has been exceptional for Celtic and I have made my feelings clear about the potential that he has and the raw ability that has been there for all to see.

He has scored goals at the very top level this season and although he was quiet against Rangers on Sunday, I actually thought that at times he was very isolated in the game.

Scott Sinclair has had a wee lull in recent weeks, which can always happen with player throughout the course of the season, and it meant that there wasn’t the same level of composure to Dembele’s game because of that.

In any case, he will eventually get into the senior French team, of that I would have no doubt. But for now I think it is the sensible decision to allow him to develop at this level where he has shown exactly the heights he is capable of aspiring to.

He has done exceptionally well for France at under-21 level and it makes sense for him to maintain that development for the time being.

Certainly, I can’t imagine that it will have affected him in any way to find out that he isn’t in the full senior squad just yet.
