CELTIC legend Pat Bonner insists Scott Brown can have ‘no excuses’ after the skipper returned to his bad old days with Sunday’s red card showing a ‘lack of responsibility’.
Brown was sent off in injury-time in the 2-2 draw with Ross County after a reckless late challenge on Liam Boyce.
Only an appeal and SFA delays caused by the Easter holidays have enabled Brown to play in Sunday’s Old Firm Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers.
But Bonner said: “You cannot have an excuse for what he did. He’s the captain, and it’s just a lack of responsibility. I don’t care what’s happened in the game, he’s the one who should be calming the other players down.
“I know you’re aggrieved by what’s happened, with the penalty and so on.
“He should have just kept a calm head. That was a young Scott Brown out there, when he was a young man and he used to get caught up in all that.
“Now, he’s a very experienced player.”
