WITH several Celtic talents plying their trade across British football this season, we take a look at how they fared over the weekend.

Scottish Cup

Ryan Christie (Aberdeen)

The midfielder was chosen from the start for the Dons’ dramatic Scottish Cup semi-final win over Hibs on Saturday and repaid manager Derek McInnes with a goal.

Christie lined up a free kick from a wide position and cleverly caught out goalkeeper Ofir Marciano at his near post by curling in a shot rather than delivering the expected cross.

The goal put the Dons 2-0 up, but Christie was later sacrificed for defender Anthony O’Connor on the hour mark as McInnes switched to a back three.

Efe Ambrose (Hibernian)

Ambrose came off worse from Saturday’s clash at Hampden Park as his side lost 3-2 despite fighting back from two goals down.

The Nigerian was involved in a defensive mix-up that led to Adam Rooney’s opener 12 seconds after kick-off and was eventually replaced by striker Brian Graham with two minutes remaining, as his side desperately looked for an equaliser.

Scottish Championship

Aidan Nesbitt, Jamie Lindsay and Luke Donnelly (Greenock Morton)

Morton secured a play-off spot on Saturday but are without a win in seven games after being held to a 1-1 home draw against rock-bottom Ayr United.

Lindsay dropped to the bench where he joined Donnelly, while Nesbitt started the game before being substituted on the 82nd minute. Midfielder Lindsay was given a brief run out after coming on in stoppage time, but Donnelly again failed to get any minutes.

Paul McMullan (Dunfermline Athletic)

McMullan played the full 90 minutes for 10-man Pars, who went down 2-1 at home to Falkirk to put an end to any hopes of reaching the play-off spots.

English Championship

Scott Allan (Rotherham)

Relegated Rotherham restored some pride with a 1-0 win over Ipswich Town, ending their 17-game winless run. Allan was again out of the matchday squad, having failed to make a league appearance since January.

English League One

Eoghan O’Connell (Walsall)

It was a bad day at the office for the young Hoops defender, who was sent off after picking up two yellow cards during his side’s 1-0 defeat to Coventry.

In only his third game back after missing a month with injury, the Irishman picked up a second booking with 20 minutes remaining. He had earlier come close with a header cleared off the line, but O’Connell will now miss Tuesday’s clash with Port Vale.

Leo Fasan (Port Vale)

Port Vale fell to a 2-0 defeat at home to Bolton, with Fasan once again spending the duration as a spectator from the bench.
