Manchester City are prepared to sell Patrick Roberts this summer – however it is believed that the winger has options from 12 different clubs.

Celtic have made a move to take the winger to Glasgow on a permanent deal after an impressive 18-month loan spell in which the England under-20 internationalist was a key member of Brendan Rodgers’ Invincibles side.

However, the player has offers from Nice and Porto as well as Huddersfield and it is believed there is also German and further English interest in him.

The Parkhead side could have the potential carrot of Champions League football to lure Roberts with, although that will hinge on the precariousness of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.

Celtic, though, have already made their first signing of the summer with Jonny Hayes formally agreeing terms yesterday afternoon after Celtic and Aberdeen agreed a £1.3m deal for the Republic of Ireland internationalist with Ryan Christie going back to Pittodrie for a 12 month loan stint.

There was interest in Hayes from Cardiff too but it is believed that the player was keen to work with Rodgers again after being part of the youth set up at Reading under the Celtic manager.

Hayes has scored 11 goals for Aberdeen this season – two of which have been against Celtic – and it remains to be seen who else joins the player at the club this summer.

Hayes signed for Aberdeen on a free transfer from Inverness in 2012, making nearly 200 appearances and scoring 30 goals for the Dons.

While Celtic will look to strengthen this summer, the club are keen to keep the nucleus of the side together.

A new deal is set to be imminent for Callum McGregor who has worked his way into Rodgers plan this season. The midfielder came to prominence in the latter half of the campaign and Celtic are reported to be keen on tying him up on a long-term contract.

Jozo Simunovic is believed to be attracting attention from the English Premiership with Newcastle, Huddersfield and Burnley all keeping tabs on the 22-year-old Croatian defender.

Simunovic was on the brink of moving to Torino last year only for the deal to fall through at the last minute and he went on to firmly establish himself in Brendan Rodgers' team last season.

The player has also been scouted by Spartak Moscow and although Simunovic would command a fee of around £8m, neither he nor Celtic are in any rush to spush a deal through.

Zoran Krneta, the player's agent, said: 'Jozo is in no rush. We have clubs calling showing an interest all the time but as far as I'm aware no offers have been made.

'I'm sure Peter Lawwell will let us know if an offer is accepted but until then he is looking forward to next season with Celtic.'

Meanwhile, Harry Redknapp, the Birmingham manager, told TalkSport yesterday that ultimately he expects to see Rodgers back working in the English Premiership.

Rodgers has been irked by the constant chirping of returning south and signed a four year extension to his Celtic contract in April.

Having enjoyed an impeccable first season in Glasgow, Redknapp admitted he was impressed with the job that Rodgers has done – and believes he would only return south for one of the top jobs in England.

“I think he could come back to the Premier League if he wanted to,” Redknapp said. “But he’s got a great situation up there and they love him. I think there will be opportunities for him to come back, and I think he’ll manage a top club in England.”

Aiden McAdams, a youth goalkeeper at Celtic is believed to be on the brink of crossing the city to sign for Rangers.
