CELTIC'S Champions League rivals Anderlecht have parted ways with manager Rene Weiler.

The Belgian champions announced on Monday that the 44-year-old Swiss has departed following Saturday's 2-2 league draw away to Kortrijk.

Anderlecht have now won just two of their last seven games and are nine points adrift of the early Pro League pace-setters Club Brugge.

Weiler's side were beaten 3-0 by Bayern Munich on the opening day of their Group B campaign last week and host Celtic next on 27 September.

Coaches Nicolas Frutos, David Sesa and Thomas Binggeli will take charge of the club on an interim basis until a new appointment is made.

A club statement read: "On Monday, RSC Anderlecht and coach René Weiler decided to separate.

"René Weiler won the 34th title of the club, reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League, qualified RSC Anderlecht for the group stage of the Champions League and stimulated the progression of young talents like Youri Tielemans and Leander Dendoncker.

"The club thanks René Weiler for his commitment, his services and his professionalism. The current technical staff, composed of Nicolas Frutos, David Sesa and Thomas Binggeli, take over - on an interim basis - the sporting management of the team."
