The Betfred Cup quarter-finals went off with a bang on Tuesday as Rangers and Hibernian eventually secured progress from two thrilling ties.

Pedro Caixinha’s side required extra-time to get past Partick Thistle, while Hibs fell behind twice at Easter Road to Championship outfit Livingston before a late Anthony Stokes penalty secured the win.

Celtic had a more comfortable night of it at Dens Park, recording a 4-0 win over Dundee to put their name in the hat for the last four.

Tonight, Aberdeen travel to Motherwell to decide who will be the final side in the draw. 

When is the semi-final draw?

It will take place this Thursday, 21 September, directly after BT Sport’s coverage of the Motherwell v Aberdeen game.

Given it’s a 7.45pm kick-off, the draw should take place around 10pm - although it will be later if the game at Fir Park goes to extra time or penalties.

BT Sport 1 will be showing the draw live and the broadcaster will also stream it on their Facebook page.

What happened in last year's semis?

A late Moussa Dembele strike secured a 1-0 win for Celtic over rivals Rangers at Hampden Park to secure their place in the final, while second-half goals from Adam Rooney and Kenny McLean gave Aberdeen a 2-0 victory over surprise packages Morton.
