CELTIC have suffered a blow to their preparation for Wednesday's Champions League meeting with Bayern Munich after Jozo Simunovic was ruled out with injury.

The centre-back did not travel with the squad today as they departed for Germany, having failed to recover from a hamstring problem.

He failed to feature for Bosnia and Herzegovina during the international break and hasn't played for the Hoops since the 2-0 win over Rangers on 23 September.

Manager Brendan Rodgers had been hopeful that the 23-year-old would recover in time along with midfielder Stuart Armstrong and Scott Brown.

He said last week: "It was never an injury that was going to keep him out for a sustained period of time but he just felt something and stayed behind to get treatment."

However, the recovery process is taking longer than expected and now Rodgers will have to count on Erik Sviatchenko, Dedryck Boyata, Kristoffer Ajer and Nir Bitton as his central defensive options.
