Celtic have completed a loan deal for Dundee goalkeeper Scott Bain, subject to the keeper passing a medical this evening.

The Parkhead side were in the hunt for a back-up stopper after the knee injury sustained by Craig Gordon in the weekend win over Hibs.

The move prevaricated on Hibs getting Scott Allan from Dundee on loan - Celtic remain his parent club - and with Simon Murray going from Easter Road to Dundee on loan.

Bain's loan deal until the end of the season will see him go in as back-up to Dorus de Vries as Gordon completes what is anticipated to be a three-month rehab.

Celtic pursued the former Aberdeen keeper after seeing a move for Trevor Carson fall through when Motherwell rejected two bids for the Northern Irish stopper.

The Parkhead side are still working on a deal for Dundee's Jack Hendry, with the possibility of the player being loaned back to Dundee for the remainder of the season.
