Celtic defender Jack Hendry is cup-tied for this Saturday’s William Hill Scottish Cup final but has insisted that he will look to exert as much positivity around the Parkhead squad at Hampden.

Hendry played in the competition for Dundee before signing for Celtic on the final night of the transfer window in January but despite his frustration at missing out he will be willing on his team-mates.

“It is a difficult one,” he said. “I am Cup tied and can’t play because the day before the window closed I played against Inverness for Dundee. “It is frustrating for myself obviously but it is about the team and hopefully they will go out and do the job. “These things happen in football and you need to be able to get on with it. There are Cup games throughout the season and it is just one of these things that you need to deal with.

“The plan for me will be to go along and get some positive experience. Obviously everyone wants to play as much as possible but if I can go along and see what it is all about then if it comes around again next season then I have that experience to call on. I’ll also try and be as positive as possible for the lads around me as well.”

And the defender has also tipped Scott Bain to rise to the occasion at Hampden should Craig Gordon fail to make the game. “Obviously I was at Dundee with Scott so I know his capabilities and I have got full confidence if I am playing alongside him,” he said. “I am sure if he is called upon he will do a good job. He is very concentrated on what he has got to do. He is a good pro and if he is asked to play he’ll do well.”
