CELTIC striker Moussa Dembele is out of the running to win the FIFA Puskas award for goal of the year.

The Hoops striker picked up a nomination for the prestigious gong for putting the finishing touch to a superb team move against St Johnstone during a 5-2 win at McDiarmid Park earlier this year.

Ten goals were shortlisted for the prize, which is open to a public vote, but football's governing body confirmed on Monday that Dembele has failed to make the final three.

It is now between Arsenal's Olivier Giroud, Baroka goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke and Deyna Castellanos of Venezuela Women to be crowned the winner.

Voting closes on Monday 23 October when FIFA's 'The Best' ceremony takes place in London.
