FORMER Rangers star Andrei Kanchelskis has warned his Russian countrymen that Celtic will be a huge test for Zenit St Petersburg.

The ex-Manchester United winger, who played for Rangers between 1998 and 2002 also believes Zenit could struggle to come to terms with the Parkhead atmosphere.

He said: “To be honest, I don’t think this will be an easy game for Zenit.

“This is not a Zenit side with the likes of Hulk, Danny and Axel Witsel in the team.

“The Scots are dangerous, particularly at home because they have such a crazy support.

“Celtic might not be so good away from home, but if you give them time on the ball, they can be a threat.

“Zenit are a team in transition and it will be a close battle.”

And the 36-times capped former Russia star has warned Zenit what to expect for their first ever competitive game in Glasgow.

He said: “There will be a full stadium and they will actually enjoy the game a lot.

“The fans aren’t like in Russia. They are organised, but they respect the law.

“Zenit keep getting punished and yet their fans keep on violating the rules.

“In Scotland, they will sing their hymns for 90 minutes and it is a beautiful stadium.

“Glasgow is still divided though, with religion still a problem. There are still areas I wouldn’t advise walking around.

“At one time, the Old Firm was a tough derby, but unfortunately now Celtic dominate.

“I only wish Rangers find some new investors and fight back.
