The news that Tom Rogic’s absence is set to stretch further than previously thought is disappointing for Celtic.

Coupled with Stuart Armstrong being out and Patrick Roberts still pushing for full fitness, it definitely means that there is a creative shortage in the middle of the park for Celtic.

Rogic is one of those players who is capable of spinning something out of nothing, with last season’s Scottish Cup final the most obvious go-to example. The Aussie has been missed since he has been out and the fact that it looks unlikely he will make the Zenit game in the Europa League is a major disappointment.

I feel for the lad because he has had such a difficult time with injuries. He is another who will have the chance to play at the World Cup in Russia this summer and I am sure that he will be keen to get back into the team and playing at a decent level ahead of that.

I also wonder about Stuart Armstrong’s injury. I have felt throughout this season that he has never been able to maintain the form of last season but if he has been carrying a niggly problem then that would explain why.

That he is expected to resume light training quite quickly will mean that he could push for that Europa League game and he seems like a naturally fit boy.

What will be interesting is just whether he can find the same level that we saw throughout Rodgers’ first season at the club.

Liam Henderson has also opted to head to Italy in an attempt to get his career going again in what is a bold move for him. I actually think that is one that many people might keep a close eye on.

Liam is just starting out but he had a successful spell to Rosenborg and a Scottish Cup medal to show from his time at Hibs and I think he was a wee bit unfortunate that he didn’t make the breakthrough at Celtic.

He is a lot of talent and I would love to see him do well over in Italy.
