Clyde face Everton test

Clyde assistant manager Gordon Wylde hopes his side will benefit from playing against quality opposition when they square up against an Everton XI tonight.

The Bully Wee will face the Toffees’ up-and-coming stars as they continue their build-up to the start of the new campaign against Partick Thistle on Saturday.

With Davie Moyes’ first team currently on tour in Australia, the Merseyside youngsters will be hoping to impress when they make the trip to Broadwood. Stuart Millar’s side put on a good show against Ross County on Saturday, narrowly losing 3-2 to the First Division outfit but Wylde knows they face a step up in class this evening. “I think Everton will bring up one or two of their reserves and a lot of their youth players” he said. “That will still be a difficult task for us. The level of fitness and standard of player in England, even in the reserve league, will be very high. “They will bring a lot of kids up and they will want to show Alan Stubbs that they are able to push on. It will be a fantastic learning experience for our boys.”
