Hibee Hogg plays it cool over record

by Alison McConnell

HIBS defender Chris Hogg and his team-mates are treating Sunday's CIS Cup Final as just another game as they try to avoid choking under pressure.

It has been 16 years since the Leith side last won silverware - and that was a 2-0 win over Dunfermline at the National Stadium in the same competition.

Three seasons ago a huge Hibees support of almost 40,000 travelled to Hampden only to be disappointed when they lost 2-0 to Livingston in the CIS final but Hogg believes that keeping things in perspective will help John Collins' side.

"I know it's a massive game for the fans, but to me - and this might sound daft - it's just another game," he said.

"We will be doing everything we can to win. But as a player I don't listen to the outside world.

"Obviously there will be expectation from the supporters but there is expectation every Saturday, and as a player you learn to deal with that.

"There will be a big crowd but we have played in front of big crowds before so I don't think any of us are bothered.

"And the fact we haven't won anything for so long hasn't been mentioned - it's something we don't think about, and to my mind is irrelevant, because this is a one-off game.

"Training has been along the usual lines and there is a relaxed mood about the camp. We are looking forward to Sunday."
