Razvan Rat, Romania regular and Champions League veteran with Shakhtar Donetsk, says he's wanted in Scotland

RANGERS targets DaMarcus Beasley and Carlos Cuellar today sent out clear "come and get us" messages to the Ibrox club.

Beasley netted twice for the United States in the 4-0 win over El Salvador in the Gold Cup at the Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts early today.

Cuellar has begged La Liga cracks Osasuna not to scupper his move to Scotland after they reportedly rejected a £1m bid from Rangers. And Romanian defender Razvan Dinca Rat, who plays for Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk, says he has been approached by the Ibrox side.

Beasley's double helped Bob Bradley's troops maintain their unbeaten record in the tournament ahead of their quarter-final appearance on Saturday. The PSV Eindhoven ace, who spent last season on loan at Manchester City, is currently on top of Walter Smith's shopping list.

It is believed Smith has agreed a fee of £700,000 for DaMarcus and will meet the player in America within 24 hours to finalise the move. And Cuellar has begged La Liga cracks Osasuna not to scupper his move to Scotland after they reportedly rejected a £1m bid from Rangers.

The 25-year-old defender's representatives have agreed his personal terms, but Osasuna are believed to want a £2.7m transfer fee.

Cuellar said: "I just hope I don't lose this chance because my mind is already in Glasgow.

"Osasuna know it is my wish to sign for Rangers, but I do understand they will only let me go when they are happy with the price. That is their right.

"But I just hope everything gets sorted soon as I just want to get my suitcase packed and get started in Glasgow. I would love to play for Rangers. I have made that clear to Osasuna.

"There is a lot of passion in Scottish football and that's what I find so attractive. I know the Spanish players who have played there all love it, especially the support they get from the fans.

"I also like the style of football over there, full of passion and energy."

Romanian defender Razvan Dinca Rat, who plays for Ukranian club Shakhtar Donetsk, has today been linked with a move to Ibrox.

The 25-year-old defender said: "I have heard of a few rumours, but I don't know of anything concrete. There have been offers from Holland, Greece and even Scotland."

Rangers are already believed to be closing in on Kilmarnock starlet Stevie Naismith, Wigan's Lee McCulloch and Killie second-choice keeper Graeme Smith.

And first choice keeper Allan McGregor is reported to be in line for a contract that will tie him to Ibrox until 2011 on double the money he is already on.

Meanwhile, with new players on the way, Karl Svensson, Thomas Buffel, Libor Sionko are believed to be heading for the Ibrox exit door. Sasa Papac, too, has been linked with a move to St Etienne in France.

Im not worried wether we get damarcus beasley as he is a man city reject. How many man city rejects have gone on to star in the spl none that i know of. Carlos is a little different as he is a star in the spanish top league. But given that smith is apparently in charge of 9 million he should be spending some of that dosh soon. However that would be foolish for a club of the stature of rangers that can attract stars from teams in top leagues on bosmans Prso,Boomsong we should really be whacking our whole transfer budget on another bosman sign on fee I am of course refering to the talented wee argentine on a bosman from barcelona.

I am surprised the Smith would be remotely interested in Beasley. I have lived in the U.S.A now for some years and have watched Beasley many many times both at club and International level. He will not be suited to the Scottish game; as soon as he gets clattered he disappears from the game. I think there are other options which would suit Rangers better.

The problem Smith has is the depth of his squad. 9 million will get you 2 half decent players. By admission wattie reckons he needs about 6 or 7.

Yo usa blue are there any USA talents you do think rangers should go for. Or is the usa league as talentless as a beckhamless bowl of beckhamflakes.

I was discussing this earlier on notthebeeb.com and some of the american members said Beasley would do well in the SPL.

I hope Walter gets the finger out and signs Cuellar and Naismith as they would significantly strengthen the team.

Beasley has flopped in Holland and in England: he won't do any better here. And why spend so much money on a mediocre Spanish defender when we could get the more reliable Russell Anderson for less? We've wasted enough on foreign duds in the past: we don't need to do it again this summer.

Smith would be better spending 2 million on Naismith and forget about Beasley and McCulloch.

Jonny,
To be honest, I am no lover of the game or players here in the States. Very few have really made it in Europe. Not many of them appear to like the physical side of the game.

I have to disagree, Beas is a solid player with a bright future in front of him. Remember, he has gotten farther than any other American in the Champions League while playing with PSV, and he was a big part of them getting as far as they did. The only thing that held him down in Holland was a nagging injury. I agree his season with Man City was tough, but when did he ever get the opportunity to play. I don't think any of you are remembering Beas when he was 100% healthy. I can't wait to see all of you eat your words once he's wrecking shop in the SPL. If Scotland can't embrace him, fine, he and his talent can go elsewhere. Good luck signing a play with as much drive, dedication, speed and talent as Beas.

Nice to see this forum back on line, hopefully it wont get hi-jacked by imposters and bigots this time. As for the well documented signing targets...i'd rather see Hyppia, Koumas and Fowler, not a bad spine IMO. I'd also like to see big Heskey at Ibrox; he'd cause havoc and create a lot of chances for Boyd.
Mind how you go.

I agree Cody and like you hope the bigots don't hijack and ruin the forum.

On the signings, Hyppia would be a good signing...Fowler is finished imo, Koumas...Rangers cant afford him (neither can celtic btw)

Heskey is a curious one. I always thought he was a hot and cold player.

Should be interesting

ps...For the new season, Peacepact? Truce? Olive branch?

You have got to be kidding. Beasley had a very good first season at PSV after he was signed to replace Robben. He led the team in goals scored during their Champions League semifinal run that ended on away goals against AC Milan. He also played a major part in them winning their league.

Beasley's departure from PSV has more to do with Hiddink leaving and never really settling into Dutch life than his play on the pitch.

As far as ManCity goes, all signs were pointing to Pearce offering him a contract when he was sacked. Beasley was clearly one of only a couple decent players for City as teh season wound down.

The US National Team is a level above the Scotland National Team. Outside of the top 3-4 teams, MLS would eat the SPL alive.

The American league doesn't have dominant teams because of salary caps, but the better MLS teams can hold their own against just about anyone on a given day.

DC United beat Celtic 4-0 last season. They also got a draw against Real Madrid. An MLS select squad (made up of mostly DC United players) also beat Chelsea 1-0 last year.

While those games were friendlies and shouldn't be taken too seriously, they should at least be looked at as evidence that MLS (where Beasley originated from) has some good players.

I've heard so many ignorant people claim MLS is like the Conference. When was the last time a conference team beat Chelsea and Celtic while playing Real Madrid evenly? Preseason or otherwise.

Anyone?
