O’Hara victim of terror alert

SPARE a thought for Motherwell golfer Steven O'Hara, one of many Scots attempting to qualify for The Open at Sunningdale.

Called into the field as late as Sunday, he was unable to fly south because of the disruption at Glasgow Airport after the terrorist attack on Saturday.

There was better news for Glasgow's Alastair Forsyth, who shot rounds of 65 and 70 to earn himself a tilt at glory over Carnoustie in two weeks' time.

Other Scots hopefuls included Cambuslang's Marc Warren, the European rookie of the year last season, who shot sub-par rounds of 69 but failed to qualify.

Bathgate's Stephen Gallacher had two rounds of level-par 70 and also missed out on Carnoustie.

Former Ryder Cup player Andrew Coltart was left rueing a couple of bogeys in his second round, after a one-under first round while Euan Little, from Stranraer and David Drysdale both failed in their bids.
