THREE head-to-heads between Queen's Park and Cowdenbeath look like deciding the relegation play-off candidates in the
Irn-Bru Second Division.
Queen's are third bottom, two points ahead with a game more played, and host Cowden at Hampden tomorrow, with two matches in Fife still to come.
Spiders boss Gardner Speirs is looking for a home win to provide some insurance cover as they enter the final quarter. He said: "This is a big game for both of us.
"With them trailing us by two points, but with the game in hand, we need some insurance, and three points would be a great move towards that.
"When we played back in October there was very little in it when they won 1-0 at Hampden, so we have a score to settle."
Queen's hopes have been hit by a double injury blow.
Speirs revealed: "We are missing Mick Dunlop, who has had a minor knee op, while Stuart McGrady is also out with a thigh injury.
"Thankfully, Paul Cairney is back from suspension and his energy will be a big positive for us."
In the Irn-Bru Third Division, Albion Rovers travel to champions-elect East Fife, with boss John McCormack still nursing play-off hopes.
Cowboy said: "East Fife are very close to being able to clinch the title and that may, in a way, work in our favour. We've come off second best against them this season, but not by much, and we will look to be positive again.
"Although we are 11 points off Arbroath in the last play-off place, there are still 27 to play for. A surprise at New Bayview could act as a real launchpad for us."
Rovers could miss up to seven regulars. Veteran utility man Danny Ferry is the best bet to shrug off a groin injury.
Dumbarton host Forfar in the battle to avoid
finishing the bottom club in Scotland. The Sons are three points ahead of
the dead-last Loons with a game in hand.
