QUEEN'S PARK gaffer Gardner Speirs has admitted the break-up of his talented side is inevitable.
As we revealed last week, utility man Stevie Canning has agreed a pre-contract with Brechin City, and now Paul Paton is on his way to Partick Thistle.
There could be as many as five others leaving Hampden after Queen's complete their Irn-Bru Second Division card at Cowdenbeath.
And Speirs admitted: "Given the quality of football we have played and the results against the full-time sides in the Second Division, there was always going to be a lot of interest in our lads. It was inevitable, but it is also flattering.
"We are focused on ending the season on a high to underline the fact that we have consolidated our Second Division status with something to spare."
As for right-back Paton, Queen's Young Player of the Year, he said: "Paul has all the attributes needed to step up. He is a good passer and gets forward at every opportunity with some pace but also retains the ability to link well with those ahead.
"He has it all in terms of what you would want from a developing young full-back."
For Cowden, Speirs will be missing Paul Ronald, Stevie Reilly, Robert Dunn and Richard Sinclair.
In the Irn-Bru Third Division, Dumbarton gaffer Jim Chapman has warned his squad Sons' trip to Forfar is the last chance to persuade him over new deals.
Chappie said: "This is it for more than a few of the squad. This is the last opportunity to convince me to deal them in for next season. The decision will be taken in that respect early next week.
"We are delighted to have avoided the wooden spoon and want to sign off with a win."
Albion Rovers end their card at home to champions East Fife.
