MOTHERWELL'S Mark Reynolds reckons he can help his club dent Rangers' title ambitions at Ibrox tonight - by emulating SFWA Player of the Year Carlos Cuellar.
Young Well centre- half Reynolds has been hugely impressed by the Spanish defender as he has helped the Gers to the brink of a historic Quadruple.
And the promising 21-year-old, linked with a move to Everton in the summer, has revealed how he tries to model himself on top players like Cuellar.
Mark said: "I watched Rangers in the Uefa Cup semi-final with Fiorentina last week. A lot of people have said how defensive they were. Maybe, but what a defensive performance it was! It was almost textbook.
"Carlos Cuellar and Davie Weir have played so well together and I have no doubt Cuellar has learned a great deal from a vastly experienced player like Weir.
"Carlos's name has been linked with all the Player of the Year awards and he picked up the Football Writers' award. He rightly deserves whatever honours come his way in my opinion.
"I think that, as a youngster, you do look at good players in your position and try to model yourself on them. I have certainly watched Cuellar, Weir and Stephen McManus at Celtic as well as the top guys in England.
"I look at how they play, the good habits they have and how they read the game. I try to take bits and pieces from their play and incorporate that into my own game."
Despite his admiration for Cuellar and Weir, Reynolds will be looking to pile on the misery for Rangers tonight and help Motherwell take a huge step towards securing a Uefa Cup place.
A defeat or a draw for the Gers would hand Celtic a big advantage in the title race while at the same time moving Well further ahead of Euro rivals Aberdeen, Dundee United and Hibs.
And Mark feels if the Steelmen perform like they did against the Hoops last weekend - when they were beaten 2-1 - they have a good chance of claiming another Old Firm scalp.
He said: "I thought we played really well against Celtic and once we got a goal I thought we would go on and win it. Sadly, it just wasn't to be.
"Yet, if we can keep that level of performance and consistency then we have a good chance of finishing in third position and getting into Europe.
"We know that nobody is expecting us to go to Ibrox and get anything. Whatever we do get will be a bonus. We always look forward to going to these grounds.
"We know Rangers have a good squad and many of quality players, but they also have a few injuries and I am sure their guys will be tired. We definitely have a chance."
Motherwell boss Mark McGhee will bring Stephen Hughes, Simon Lappin and Ross McCormack back, and Reynolds reckons that shows the strength in depth they have.
He said: "A lot has been said about the size of our squad, but we have quality in there. We have a lot of good players vying for a starting position. After all, Simon Lappin, Ross McCormack and Stephen Hughes were on the bench against Celtic."
