It’s all Rover for top Mark

by Bert Mitchell

QUEEN'S PARK midfielder Mark Ferry has agreed a two-year deal with Raith Rovers.

The 24-year-old follows Stevie Canning (Brechin), Mick Dunlop (Dumbarton) and Paul Paton, who has agreed a three-year deal with Partick Thistle.

Ferry said: "I just felt it was the right time to go. Queen's did really well to consolidate in the Second Division and it was great to be a part of that, but I felt I needed a fresh challenge.

"Raith Rovers were unlucky not to go up this season and hopefully I will be joining a team who can go all the way to the First Division."

The loss of the 11-goal midfielder could signal the start of the break-up of the Spiders' impressive engine room.

Top scorer Alan Trouten had agreed terms with Partick Thistle until the Firhill cash crisis.

However, Trouten has other admirers while skipper Stuart Kettlewell is likely to agree terms with Morton.

lHamilton boss Billy Reid has released keeper Bryn Halliwell and signed Sean Murdoch as a replacement.

lMorton skipper Stewart Greacen has agreed a new three-year deal which will keep the 26- year-old at Cappielow until 2011.
