Mowbray rejects Riordan reunion

by Ronnie Cully

DEREK RIORDAN'S hopes of escaping from Celtic reserves to the Premiership with newly promoted West Brom were shot today down by Baggies boss Tony Mowbray.

The man who helped develop the 24-year-old's skills at Hibs has a warchest to strengthen his squad for next season in England's top flight.

But Mowbray made it clear that Riordan will not be one of the men on his shopping list.

He said: "I don't want to be disrespectful to him, but at the moment I don't see Derek at a level where he is going to play in the Premier League for my team. I'd suggest we won't be phoning Celtic this week to ask about Derek."

Mowbray has also been linked with long-time Celtic target Kevin McDonald, But the midfielder is another who won't be offered the chance to move to the Hawthorns.
