Miller’s tale will switch to Japan

ALEX MILLER has been appointed boss of JEF United Chiba, the Japanese club where Koki Mizuno starred before joining Celtic in January.

The former Rangers player will leave his position as first-team coach under Rafa Benitez at Liverpool to take up the £500,000-per-year appointment.

After 15 years at Ibrox, Miller became player-manager of South China AA in Hong Kong, and has since managed Morton, St Mirren, Hibs and Aberdeen as well as acting as assistant to Craig Brown, when he was Scotland boss.

He was appointed chief scout at Liverpool by Gerard Houllier in 1999 before moving back to coaching when Benitez took over.

Miller, 58, is expected to start immediately at the struggling Tokyo-based club, who are bottom of the table with no wins from 11 games.
