AIDEN McGEADY admits he is green with envy as he watches Rangers count down the days - and games - until they play in next week's Uefa Cup Final.
The Celtic midfield maestro is fully focused on helping his side win their final two Spl games to force the title race to go right down to the wire.
But McGeady can't help
himself taking a sideways glance at what lies ahead of Rangers as they prepare to play Dundee United on Saturday then head to Manchester for Wednesday's final against Zenit St Petersburg.
McGeady was still trying to make his breakthrough to the Celtic side when they played in Seville in 2003, but he got caught up in all the excitement of the occasion.
Much of that buzz has been smothered this time by the controversy over Rangers' fixture schedule. But McGeady reckons most players would consider the rewards available would be worth the effort.
He said: "I'd like to be going for four trophies, but it's not gone our way this season.
"With so many big games coming up, Rangers are looking for fixtures to be put back, and we would do the same.
"You'd rather be in Rangers' position and in a Uefa Cup
Final. The fact there are so many matches won't help them, but I'd still prefer to be in their position with the games to play."
McGeady has his fingers crossed that, with the Uefa Cup and the Scottish Cup still in their sights, Rangers might lose focus on the championship.
He said: "They have an awful lot of games in a lot of different competitions while we only have the league to look forward to.
"Having so many matches, they are going to have injuries and suspensions, and that's
going to hinder them in some way.
"But we can't look too far forward. If we hadn't beaten Aberdeen last month it would have been league over and it would have been the same if we hadn't beaten Rangers twice.
"I said after the first Old Firm match we needed to win every game to have a chance of winning the league and hopefully that can become reality."
