NEIL ALEXANDER has no qualms about taking centre stage again tomorrow night if the Uefa Cup Final goes to penalty kicks.

The Rangers goalkeeper made a vital save in the pressure-packed shoot-out victory over Fiorentina to help Gers to their first European final in 36 years.

Alexander also made some vital blocks to help Walter Smith's men defeat St Johnstone on penalties in their Scottish Cup semi-final clash at Hampden Park, and he is prepared for more drama.

But he said: "If that turns out to be the case then it's not something that will faze me. I don't get nervous before a shoot-out as I look upon them as a chance to help my team win the game.

"I managed to save one of the Fiorentina penalties to bring us back into the game and then Christian Vieri blasted over. I'd like to think I managed to contribute to that by complaining the ball wasn't on the spot at first as these little things can unsettle the penalty taker.

"My record at penalties isn't too bad as I've always managed to make a few saves at whatever club I've been at so hopefully, if tomorrow night's game is to be decided on penalty kicks again, then I can do the business and help us win the game."

Alexander paid tribute to Allan McGregor for the part he has played in helping Gers reach the Uefa Cup Final against Zenit and admits his support as he prepares for the biggest game of his career is a massive help.

He said: "Allan was fantastic all season up until he unfortunately got injured recently against Celtic and it's a real pity for him that he is missing out on this opportunity. But he is always offering me support and advice and the pair of us get on really well.

"We know we face a massive challenge. It's the biggest match of our lives and we know we will become legends if we manage to win a European trophy, so the game can't come quickly enough for us now."
