Diomansy Kamara wants new-look Celtic’s Active Nation Scottish Cup win at Dunfermline to act as the launch-pad to fire them back into SPL title contention.

Kamara bagged his first goal since joining on loan from Fulham as Tony Mowbray’s side came from 2-1 behind to overpower the Pars 4-2.

Now, Celtic face a crucial run of four league games they must win as they attempt to peg back Rangers’ 10-point lead.

They host Hearts at Parkhead on Wednesday, before making the journey north to Aberdeen on Saturday. Dundee United are then next up at home before the Old Firm crunch at Ibrox on February 28.

It has been an unfamiliar group of players who have been asked to gel together by manager Mowbray – and Kamara believes the new Bhoys are about to click into gear.

He said: “The important thing now is to try to build on that kind of display. We are a team that has not played very often together and there are a lot of new faces.

“But I think once we get two or three games together that you will see a very good side because there are some fantastic players here.

“We know how important the game against Hearts is. But for the confidence I think it was good for the team to win against Dunfermline and I think we now want to take the same kind of form into the game against Hearts.

“Everyone knows that we need to start winning games in the league.”

Kamara was delighted to open his account, and was also thrilled for Robbie Keane, who sealed the win with a penalty kick to make it 4-2.

He added: “When you are a striker it is always important for your confidence to come in and get a quick goal at a new club because it helps you to settle. I was pleased with the way I played and the way the team performed. It was a good afternoon. I feel good and that I am settling into the side, so I want to keep my place and keep playing.

“It was nice for Robbie and Morten Rasmussen to score, too, because strikers thrive on that. We all play on confidence. I know that Robbie is a big Celtic fan and he seemed to enjoy the celebrations!

“We were all delighted for him because there has been a big spotlight on him this week and it is nice that he has got his first goal out of the way.”
