Andy Murray crashed out of the US Open early this morning and then admitted: “I have no idea whether I will win a Grand Slam or not.”
The World No.4 lost in four sets to Stanislas Wawrinka, the 25-year-old Swiss player ranked 23 places below him, despite taking a one set lead and being 3-0 up in the second.
The 23-year-old Scot had treatment on court for injuries to his thigh and elbow but refused to make excuses.
He said of questons over his fitness: “It’s all part and parcel of the game.
“I want to win a Grand Slam. But if I never win one, then what? If I give 100%, try my best, physically work as hard as I can ... practise as much as I can, then that’s all I can do.
“He played better than me. There’s not a whole lot more to it.”
