Neil Lennon today confirmed Freddie Ljungberg has looked sharp and fit in training, and that he will face further medical tests later this evening.
However, if the Swedish midfielder does sign, the manager reckons it might be asking a bit too much to throw him into Sunday’s Old Firm game at Ibrox. Lennon also revealed Canadian international Dwayne De Rosario is training at Lennoxtown to let the club take a look at him.
But it is the possibility of recruiting 33-year-old Ljungberg which has really caught the imagination of the Celtic fans and Lennon said: “We only saw him yesterday, and he didn’t train with the first team because they had a game the day before.
“But he looked very impressive. He looks in good condition, and he will get another look at him today when he trains with the first team. First impressions were very good.”
Asked if a deal looks likely, Lennon replied: “It is very difficult to make decision on one day of training. But he fits the bill of the type of player we want to bring in.”
