GLASGOW WARRIORS head coach Gregor Townsend confident both Al Kellock and Chris Cusiter will be fit for Friday night's first ever professional game at Scotstoun Stadium.

Glasgow skipper Kellock was substituted with a dead leg after 33 minutes of last Friday night's 18-10 defeat at Ulster in the opening fixture of the RaboDirect PRO 12 campaign.

While Scotland scrum-half Cusiter, who was a second-half substitute for Henry Pyrgos, also suffered a similar injury and finished the game at a hobble.

But Townsend has no doubt both will be ready for the visit of Scarlets.

And he firmly believes there were more than enough positives from the defeat by the Ulster men to build on in the season's opening home outing.

He said: "Both Al and Cus took nasty blows to the leg, but I am 100% confident that they will `be fine for Friday.

"After what was a hugely physical game at Ravenhill I am just relieved that we do not have any more collateral damage.

"I also believe that we have more than a few positives which we can build on for Scarlets and not least the way we came back at Ulster.

"I thought we showed tremendous courage in the way we fought back and it is just a pity that we got no reward for that.

"We have analysed the Ulster game and now it is all about building for Scarlets. Friday night is immensely important for everyone connected with Glasgow Warriors and we are totally focused on doing everything we can to give the fans the win they deserve and the win they expect."

Of principle concern to Townsend ahead of the arrival of the Welsh side will be the reduction of the penalty count that was damagingly high at 16 in the Province.

Yet the former British Lions and Scotland play-maker will be boosted by the way his benched Scotland stars like Cusiter, Ryan Grant and John Barclay all made a telling contribution when they came on after the break at Ravenhill.

The Warriors head coach said: "I was really pleased with the contribution we got from our Scotland players given they had not had any game time in the build up.

"I am confident we can produce the win and the performance I will demand."
