Kilmarnock boss Jimmy Calderwood could miss his side’s Active Nation Scottish Cup game with Celtic on Saturday after being forced to travel to Holland to deal with a family emergency.
Calderwood, who played and managed in Holland for two decades, has returned to the country and it is unsure if he will be back in Scotland for Killie’s quarter-final match with the Hoops this weekend.
Tony Mowbray’s men need to win the last eight meeting with their Clydesdale Bank Premier League rivals if they are to stand any chance of landing silverware this season.
The Parkhead club have already suffered a disastrous result in Ayrshire during the 2009/10 campaign – they lost 1-0 there last month in the league on Robbie Keane’s debut.
Meanwhile, Russian club Spartak Nalchik have claimed that Killie striker Kevin Kyle could still join them – despite the Scotland hitman declaring that he would not move there.
Spartak manager Yuri Krasnozhan said: “The trial game he played for us showed us that Kevin is a good quality player and strong individually.
“Since we did not have time for further checks, we had to postpone the issue about his transfer until later.”
Sporting director Kazbek Nakushev added: “Before he left he had a good chat with our manager and there was not a word that he didn’t want to move here. It is still possible he will join.”
