SHAUN FRASER admits it's make-or-break time as he looks to kickstart his career after leaving Partick Thistle.

The striker endured a frustrating few months at Firhill and is now on the lookout for a new club after parting company with the Jags three weeks ago, joining Jonny Lindsay in heading out the exit door in search of regular first-team football.

Despite showing signs of promise under former manager Ian McCall, the arrival of boss Jackie McNamara saw Fraser's chances limited as the Thistle gaffer overhauled his squad.

Christie Elliot, Mark McGuigan, Steven Lawless and James Craigen have all joined the Jags in the last year, with Fraser cutting his ties with the club after becoming disillusioned with life under the former Celtic.

He said: "It was a mutual thing to be honest. I thought I was doing well a year or so ago, but then since Jackie came in I have not featured.

"I didn't just want to sit there all year and not play. I think it is a make-or-break year for me.

"When you are 19, 20, you are thinking, 'can I make it, will I not?'.

"I want to be playing regular football and if that means dropping down a couple of leagues then so be it. I just want to play again.

"He had his reasons for not playing me, which only he will know. I went to him a few times and he said 'work on this, work on that'.

"Whatever I did wasn't good enough obviously. He had his players that he wanted to play, which is fair enough, and I just didn't fit his plans."

Fraser was tipped for a bright future at Firhill during McCall's reign, helping Jags' Under-19 side lift the SFL Youth League Cup as he progressed through the ranks.

The front man made an instant impact on his Thistle bow in January last year, teeing up Kris Doolan to net the equaliser in a Scottish Cup clash at Falkirk before bagging his first senior goal in the 6-1 rout of Stirling and scoring against Queen of the South.

He has struggled for game time since, however, with a loan spell at Stenhousemuir last season his last competitive action.

The 19-year-old said: "I have been working hard by myself to keep fit. I just need some games.

"I need a chance to prove myself. Hopefully I will be able to get a new club soon.

"I don't have a wage coming in any more so I am keen to get back into football as quickly as I can and continue my career.

"I can't be sitting about for months and months. I want to try and get a new club as soon as possible.

"I do not want to be sitting about doing nothing. Hopefully I can get my career back on track."
