TOMMY GILMOUR believes Willie Limond can re-establish himself as a British title challenger.

The 33-year-old boxer has not fought since he lost heavily against Anthony Crolla in a challenge for the Lonsdale Belt in November, 2011.

However, St Andrew's club supremo Gilmour is confident that the Garthamlock fighter still has plenty left in the tank.

And he will promote Limond in two shows away from Glasgow as he bids to get his career back on track.

Gilmour said: "I have no doubt Willie Limond still has plenty to give at title level in this country.

"Everyone is due a bad day at the office and that is what happened when he lost out to Crolla.

"But we have to accept he needs to re-establish himself in the pecking order for the British title.

"That process will start away from Glasgow next month when he features on the under card of a bill being topped by Gary Cornish, my heavyweight prospect, in Inverness.

"We are looking at Willie getting a couple of six rounders under his belt, and then we can take a fresh look at where he is at.

"When you look back over Willie's career, he has fought the best and given them a tough time.

"He is determined to wipe the memory of the Crolla fight out and I have every confidence that Willie will do just that and come again.

"He is one of the most accomplished boxers this country has produced in recent years.

"That has supplied Willie with all the motivation he needs and the first step in that re-building process will start next month."
