Auchinleck Talbot sent out a clear message of intent to Dyslexia Scotland Junior Cup final opponents Musselburgh Athletic tonight.

Playing their last competitive fixture before the Rugby Park showpiece on Sunday week, Tommy Sloan's side hammered Kilbirnie Ladeside 7-0, with seven different goalscorers en route to securing a place in the Ayrshire Cup semi-final.

The rout got underway with a Mark Shankland counter and further scores came from David Gormley, Dwayne Hyslop, Graham Wilson and Lee Cochrane before half-time, while both Colin Spence and Gordon Pope got in on the act after the interval.

Delighted gaffer Sloan said: "A lot of players were looking to put in a performance and Kilbirnie were just unfortunate to come up against us in that mood."

Talbot will now face Irvine Vics for the right to face Hurlford United, who qualified for the final thanks to a Stevie Masterton double and Stewart Kean goal bringing about a 3-2 defeat of Beith.

Meanwhile, Yoker triumphed 5-4 on penalties in their Euroscot Eng last-eight clash against Dunipace that had ended 2-2 after 90 minutes.

Blantyre Vics are only two points away from being crowned Central First Division champions following a 4-0 victory over Renfew, with Mark Thomson (2), Craig Smith and Andy Sinclair on the mark.

Maryhill beat St Anthony's 4-3 at Lochburn Park where Shaun Fraser, Andy Monaghan, Luke Tolland and Paul Callendar netted for the home side, with Ross Cummings and Trialist (2) on target for the visitors.
