WILLIE SAWYERS knows his ambition has been questioned after leaving Super Premier outfit Irvine Meadow to drop down a division and sign for Rob Roy.

But the renowned hitman insists his is a case of one step back and two forward as he looks to fire the Rabs into the top flight when they play host to Shotts Bon Accord in the Super Premier play-off second leg tonight.

Rob Roy are firm favourites given they lead 2-0 from the first encounter at Hannah Park, however Sawyers - a goalscorer in the first game - is taking nothing for granted.

He said: "Tuesday night was a game of very few chances but we were fortunate to take a couple that came our way while our defence resisted all that Shotts could muster and kept a clean sheet.

"More of the same will do nicely tonight but if anything I fancy we will need to play even better to come out on top.

"The first goal is going to be crucial because if we get it then their heads will go down, however Shotts getting their noses in front will mean squeaky bum time for us."

The striker praised his team's backline ahead of the Guys Meadow clash in saying: "John Carter, Davie Barr and Paul Finnigan gave nothing away in the first game.

However their performances were put in the shade by Danny McKenzie who was nothing short of dynamite at left-back.

"On that form he is up there with Mark Sideserf and Gordon Pope as the best in the game."
