ROB ROY are once again a Super Premier Division side following a 2-1 defeat of Shotts Bon Accord in their crunch play-off decider last night that gave them a 4-1 aggregate triumph.

A fairly timid Guys Meadow affair with very few goalscoring opportunities sparked into life on the hour mark when a near-post header by Shotts stopper Liam Mushet fired the Lanarkshire club into a 1-0 lead and raised hopes they might yet overhaul the 2-0 first-leg advantage enjoyed by the Rabs.

The home team upped the pace in response and were rewarded in 68 minutes when Ryan Tiffany bore into the box and evaded a couple of lunging challenges before laying the ball back into the path of Lee Davidson whose right foot shot beat visiting goalkeeper Gary White all ends up.

Shotts went for broke in throwing bodies forward and their leaving defensive gaps went unpunished until four minutes from time when Willie Sayers played in striking partner Kevin Watt to lob White and watch as the ball struck the upright before crossing the line.

Rob Roy gaffer Paul Ronald emerged from a wildly celebrating dressing room to say: "We had fully eight players missing tonight, so it suited us that the game was played with no real fire in the bellies.

"Our players were content to let Shotts do the running, but they were not putting us under any pressure and it was a bit of a nothing game right up until they scored.

"That was the hag we needed and the players finished very strongly to secure a great win on the night ."

He added: "Stewart Maxwell has already been on the phone from Thailand and I fancy he will enjoy a few beers tonight."
