CENTRAL First Division clubs will be quaking in their boots at the announcement that league leaders Rossvale have re-signed their former hitman Yami Misango from Albion Rovers.

The ambitious Bishopbriggs-based outfit already boast firepower to be envied … they are the highest scoring side in West Region circles … but his side’s outstanding early-season form did not dissuade team boss Martin Lauchlan from snapping up the lightning quick Misango, Locky scoffed: “Our attacking riches could make us the first team to consider reverting to playing a 2-3-5 formation.

“All kidding aside, we’re delighted to bring Yami back not least because the lad has endured a nightmare time of it since stepping up to Albion Rovers because of red tape surrounding his immigrant status.

“It’s astonishing to think he’s been in the country for fully 10 years and has represented Scotland at basketball yet the Home Office has prohibited him from turning out with Rovers and the result is Yami has been left in virtual limbo ever since leaving us during the summer months.

“This is a young man of only 20 years of age who just wants to get back enjoying his football again so we’ve managed to find a way restore him to Rossvale’s books and I’m sure our supporters will relish seeing him in the club’s colours again.

“He was a major factor in our winning promotion last season and I’m sure he’ll be a massive asset once his match fitness levels are up to scratch.”

Misango’s eagerly awaited return to playing action will be put on hold for at least a week given that Rossvale’s home tie against Pumpherston is one of at least two Scottish Junior Cup 2nd round ties destined not to go ahead on Saturday.

Locky’s men will be idle on account of Petershill having first call on New Petershill Park for their tie against Newtongrange Star while reigning Cup holders Auchinleck Talbot face a similar delay before taking on Tranent due to precedence being afforded to their William Hill Scottish Cup proper encounter away to Cumbernauld Colts.

Elsewhere on the transfer front, Renfrew agreed a deal to offload want away frontman Scott Arthur to his former club Vale of Leven in time for the 23-year-old to make a scoring debut in the 2-2 weekend draw against Royal Albert.

Any likelihood of Frew supporters bemoaning his loss were blown away by a stunning four goal display by Alan Kinney in the 4-2 weekend victory over Neilston.

Yet another striking prospect on the move is Jordan White of shorts Bon Accord who has been loaned back to his former club St Anthony's in order to get him some much needed match fitness following a near six months injury absence .

On a sadder note comes word of one of the all-time Junior striking greats Norrie Fulton passing away at the weekend at the age of 66 years following a stoic battle against a cancer-related illness.

Norrie was never less than unassuming whenever our paths crossed but then he didn’t need to talk himself up seeing as numerous followers of Greenock, Port Glasgow, Johnstone Burgh, Petershill and Pollok were only too willing to laud his outstanding scoring exploits for their respective clubs from the late 1960’s - early 1980's.

Those prolific scoring abilities gained recognition in the shape of fully 20 caps for Junior Scotland and helped him win every silverware prize in the game, with the exception of the West of Scotland Cup, most notably during his playing stint with Pollok where he will forever be highly regarded for netting the only goal of the game as the Southside club historically clinched their first ever Scottish Junior Cup success in 1981 through a 1-0 Hampden Park defeat of bitter rivals Arthurlie.

The chunky striker was well liked throughout the game (unless you were a goalkeeper) and his former Petershill gaffer Jack McCartney spoke fondly of him earlier this week in saying: “The word legend is an all too over-used description nowadays but it certainly fits well before the name of Norrie Fulton.”

No funeral service details are known as yet, however it’s thought his former clubs will look to pay their respects by observing a minute’s silence at Saturday’s fixtures.
