Tomorrow's ETHXenergy showpiece will be Beith gaffer Johnny Millar’s fifth cup final appearance albeit his first as a manager following on from gracing the playing arena on four occasions (twice a winner and loser)with Glenafton(2), Arthurlie and Johnstone Burgh.

He said: "I’d much rather be a player as you only have to think about picking up your boots on the way out of the house whereas you have everybody’s worries bearing down on your shoulders as the team boss.

”And right now they are more than considerable as we have a couple of real injury concerns going into the game which will probably mean I’ll wait until the players are warming up at Rugby Park before naming our team.

“Look, there won’t be too many surprises and I’m pretty sure Tony McInally will be able to name 9/10 of my starting players, but I’m able to do likewise with his permutation as you might expect

“Bookmakers make Pollok favourites, but I see it as more of a 50/50 clash and the only prediction I’m willing to make is to say there will be goals in the game so I just hope we end up with one more than them on the day.

“Hard to say otherwise as Tony likes his players to play an expansive game and Beith are every bit as much attack minded side so neutral supporters may be in for a treat.”

Millar has been astonished at the cup final fervour in and around Beith ever since his side’s semi-final victory over Kilwinning Rangers .

He said: "It’s shaping up as a real family day out with everyone dressing up in Beith colours and strips so I’d love to bring the Cup home to the Beith people and not forgetting our club officials who have waited a long time for this day.”

He added: "Pollok have had their share of glory in years gone by so it’s only fair to let Beith have their day.”
