St Roch's manager Andy Cameron says he’s delighted to been able to keep such a familiar look about the club ahead of the new season.

Cameron revealed earlier this month that he’d managed to re-sign every member of the Candy Rock side that secured a fifth place finish in the Central District First Division last term.

And now the Garngad gaffer has revealed he’s also managed to keep the majority of his backroom staff together.

The one exception is assistant manager Robert Duff who is leaving to be replaced by Gary Flint who is already at the club.

The St Roch’s boss is now turning his attention to the new season and he’s hoping his relatively unchanged set-up will be able to produce the same results as last season.

He said: “I’m delighted to be able to keep so many of the same faces at this club.

"It’s a rare occurrence these days in football to see a successful team go from one season to another with practically no changes.

“But that’s what I’ve done and I’ve intentionally kept a familiar look about the club, the majority of players and staff we’ve got at this club have been together for a while now so everyone knows each other well.

“I will be hoping our familiarity with each other will give us an edge over other sides in this league who have been forced to chop and change their squads.”

Cameron added: “We finished fifth last season, which was a huge achievement for us, especially as we had only just been promoted.

“We wouldn’t want to take a step back this season so for me the initial target is to finish fifth or higher this time around.”

Cameron admits that he’s gutted to see Duff depart the club, but insists the Candy Rock have got a more than suitable replacement in the form of new number two Gary Flint.

He said: “I have to wholeheartedly thank Robert for everything he’s done for this club, he’s been the assistant manager here for the last two years and he’s been an amazing servant to this club.

“The work he’s done for us over the past few seasons has been incredible and he’s also been such a huge support to me.

“I’m sad to see him go, but I have to admit we’ve landed on our feet with his replacement, I personally think we’ve been extremely lucky to get someone of the calibre of Gary Flint.

“Gary has great experience at all levels, he’s got experience of the senior game at Albion Rovers and he’s just about to finish his Pro Licences.

“I think he’s going to do great things in this game and I look forward to working with him this season.”

Flint says he’s honoured to be offered the role of St Roch’s assistant manager and thanked his gaffer for the opportunity.

He said: “I am delighted and honoured to become assistant manager of such a fantastic club and I’d like to thank Andy for giving me this opportunity.

“I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me at this great club, I’m very eager to get started and I’m really looking forward to the pre-season starting.”

Flint also took time to play tribute to the man he succeeds and says he hopes to pick up where Robert Duffy left off.

Flint said: “Duffy was a great person to work alongside and he was a great voice and character to have in the changing room.

“I believe in a lot of ways I have the same ethos as Duffy, I’m hard working and I’m determined to build on a great foundation that Duffy created.”
