Pollok manager Tony McInally is hoping his new-look side can compete at the top of the Super Premier Division this season.

It’s been a summer of comings and goings at Newlandsfield Park with ten new players arriving and nine departing

The Lok boss has also re-signed ten players from the squad that won the West of Scotland Cup and finished eighth in the league last season.

McInally said: “The changes I’ve made were necessary, I had to get younger players in to freshen up the team so we could compete in this league.

“Last season I had a group of players that were at the wrong end of their careers, I had four players in their mid-30s and one in his 40s.”

“Now I have a much younger team that I’m hoping will be able to compete at the right end of the table.”

Pollok’s two biggest signing of the summer come in the form of striker Stefan McCluskey and midfielder Bryan Young.

Young is joining the Lok after 11 successful years at Auchinleck Talbot while McCluskey is reuniting with his old manager after a stint at senior level.

McInally said: “Brian is the finished article, he’s won over 25 honours in the juniors and he’s been a pivotal part of the success Auchinleck have had over the last 11 years.

“He’s a signing I won’t have to worry about, I know he can handle big crowds and I know he can produce on the big stage.

“He’s a player I’ve admired for a long time and I’m delighted to be able to add a player of his quality to my team.”

He added: “I had Stefan in my Shotts team that won the Junior Cup. He was only 19 or 20 back then but he was still fantastic.

“Since then he’s gone on to play at senior level with Clyde, Morton and Alloa and he has only gotten better.”

“He’s a quality player that would improve any team in the juniors, luckily for us, he’s decided to come here and not go elsewhere.”

McInally has also won the race to sign highly sought-after striker Adam Forde from Kilbirnie Ladeside.

The 21-year-old was the top scorer in the Super Premier Division last season and McInally hopes he will be able to repeat the feat in a Pollok shirt.

He said: “Adam scored the most goals in the Premier Division last season so we know we’re getting a player that can cut it at this level.

“As I said, he outscored every other player in the league last season and I’m hoping he will be able to do it again just for us this time.”

Pollok fans will need to get used to asking the question ‘What Nicky?’ next season as McInally has signed two players with the same first name.

Winger Nicky Prentice has joined the club from Kilsyth Rangers while Nicky Little has arrived from Clydebank.

McInally said: “Nicky Prentice is a player I’ve had my eye on for a few seasons, he can terrorise teams playing on the wing but he also has a great eye for goal.

“He’s been Kilsyth Rangers stand-out player and I’m hoping he will continue to do well in a black and white shirt.”

He added: “Nicky Little was amazing for Clydebank last season, he scored 21 goals from midfield which isn’t an easy thing to do.

“So I will be hoping he can reproduce the type of form he showed at Clydebank in a Pollok shirt.”

McInally has also signed Derick Moore from BSC Glasgow, Craig Buchanan from Kirkintilloch Rob Roy and Stuart McCann from Petershill.

The duo of Paul Byrne and Ross Brash have also arrived at Newlandsfield Park from Super Premier Division rivals from Hurlford.

The players that have left Pollok are Michael Daly, Thomas Hanlon, Ben Lawton, Kieran McAleenan, Darren McLean, Ryan McStay, Chris Walker, David Winters and Robert Winters.
