IAIN DIACK can't wait to run out at Newlandsfield tomorrow and sample the Pollok v Arthurlie derby atmosphere - second time around.

The bustling front man, who left Rob Roy to sign back on for his first Junior club Lok during the close season, says he and his team-mates are itching to show they have the backbone to handle the weight of expectations being placed upon them by supporters.

He said: "I loved my first

season at Pollok and there are a lot of similarities between the team I joined in 2010 and the current one.

"A whole raft of new players had arrived as part of a major rebuilding job and we got away to a very promising start with some decent performances in our pre-season friendly fixtures and early Sectional Cup games.

"Our supporters were rightly cock-a-hoop and made Newlandsfield a very welcoming place for players like myself, Kevin Bradley and Roddy Hunter. But it's the memory of games against Arthurlie that really stick out in my mind.

"You could feel the tension in the build-up to facing them and the match day itself brought an incredible noise and passion on the terracing, which led to some very competitive challenges out on the pitch.

"Our first meeting that

season ended in a 2-1 Sectional Cup win for Pollok, with Calum Hardie and Tom Nolan scoring if memory serves me right, and I remember the supporters

celebrating afterwards as if we'd won the Scottish Junior Cup itself."

Diack, 32, never got his name on the scoresheet that day, but he more than made amends in the next clash, earning cult hero status after netting a memorable hat-trick in a 4-1 Super Premier League win at Dunterlie .

He recalled: "By the time the league clash came around I knew what Pollok were all about and in particular that the people wearing black and white scarves have exceptionally high demands and expect their team to win every week .

"Fortunately, I came up trumps in bagging a treble against Arthurlie, and from that day on I could do no wrong in the eyes of our fans .

"Like any other player , I had my share of bad games, but they tended to be overlooked by me having a decent scoring

record of five goals in four

outings against Arthurlie that season - though the one game I never notched was a major

disappointment, the 1-0 West of Scotland Cup final defeat .

"I never managed to get on the scoresheet against

Arthurlie during my time at Rob Roy, so I'm keeping fingers crossed the good times will

return now I'm back wearing a Pollok shirt"

Diack is excited about the scoring potential among his new Lok team-mates. He said: "Richie Barr is

absolutely clinical in front of goal and I've no hesitation in saying he will score a lot of goals for the club.

"But we don't be find lacking for scorers even when the

strikers are having an off-day because the likes of Thomas Sinclair, Willie Easton, Kieron McAleenan and Davie Hamilton will get their fair share from the middle of the park .

"They are looking terrific signings, but the stand-out for myself is Willie Howie, who is very underrated for the job he does for the team.

"Everybody is gelling well and things are looking good, but it was the same when I first played here under Willie Irvine and the key is to make sure the wheels don't come off our bandwagon this time."
