David Gormley looks to have played his last ever game for Auchinleck Talbot after shaking hands on a contract offer to join Clyde .

The former Ayr United, Alloa and Elgin City front man acquired instant cult hero status among adoring Beechwood Park supporters for famously netting the only goal of the game in the 2013 Scottish Junior Cup finale against Linlithgow Rose to help seal a tenth trophy success for his Ayrshire club.

And his forward line exploits over the past 30 months have played no small part in Talbot scooping back to back Super Premier Division title wins however it's thought unlikely he will don the black and gold colours again with both clubs having reached agreement on a transfer fee for his scoring services.

Gorms would love to make a swansong appearance when Tommy Sloan's troops take to the road to meet Beith today but is resigned to watching from the sidelines.

He revealed, " An opportunity to go out on high would be terrific but the probability is my last game in a Talbot jersey has already happened - coming off the substitutes bench to score in the 5-1 West of Scotland win over Larkhall Thistle at the beginning of this month.

"It's no great secret that I've been unhappy for some time or that I had been close to moving on when Stranraer made a signing approach during the close season.

"No deal was brokered then so I just focused on doing my best for Auchinleck though lately I've had to settle for a seat on the bench with Tucker preferring to go with Graham Wilson , Dwayne Hyslop and Keir Milliken.

"Then totally out of the blue, a telephone call from a friend said Bob Malcolm was trying to get in touch so a meeting was arranged with him and Barry Ferguson where they spoke about their Clyde team plans and I liked what was said about my part in things.

"Agreeing personal terms was straightforward but I thought a snag might arise if too high a price was put on my head however talks between the clubs were quickly concluded and I will be a Clyde player when the transfer window opens on 1st January.

"It's exciting to think of this new challenge but I've loved my time at Auchinleck and have met so many good people and team mates so it's a huge wrench to walk away ."

A fourth crack at the Senior ranks suits both Gormley and Auchinleck who are believed to have fended off tentative approaches from those Junior clubs alerted to the possibility of the front man's availability by his continuing failure to hold down a regular starting place in Talbot gaffer Sloan's plans .

Junior Cup holders Hurlford United would certainly have shown an interest even though Blair Park boss Darren Henderson already boasts two outstanding front men in Ross Robertson and Stewart Kean.

Ahead of today's visit of his former club Glenafton , he said," We played superbly to beat Athurlie last weekend but that display cannot disguise the fact we need to boost playing numbers with up to five signings - one of whom has to be a striker.

"The return of Martin Brown and Neil McGregor from injury helps considerably but Stevie Masterton is a long way from recovery and more bodies are a must if we want to challenge for the big prizes."

One definite newcomer to the Ford ranks, albeit with a "well-kent face" is Hendo's former No 2 John Darroch who resigned at the end of last season through pressure of work commitments but is now back helping in a backroom team role.

The Ford gaffer added, " John was away for a few months until I phoned him up one night and asked him to help out at training.

"His enthusiasm is highly infectious and he's a great motivator for whom nothing is too big a problem and the guys are much happier for him being in and about the place again."

Glenafton star turn Adam Strachan is set to feature as Clyde are thought to have cooled their interest in the former Partick Thistle winger .

Elsewhere on comings and goings front , Kilbirnie Ladeside have released ex-Pollok full back Josh Horne and have placed striker Ian Diack on the open to transfer list while Clydebank have agreed a loan deal for Queens Park centreback David McWilliams who will be at the heart of the Bankies defence for today's visit to Holm Park of Petershill.
