Michael White reckons the only way to celebrate setting a new Petershill goalkeeping milestone is to try and better it this season.

The 2-1 victory over Ashfield saw the No.1 go into the Springburn outfit's history books for not having conceded a goal in 482 minutes – the previous record of 430 minutes belonged to Sandy Maclean back in 1991/92.

And Mikey was only 60 seconds away from becoming the only keeper in Petershill's 115-year existence to rack up five consecutive shut-outs after Ashfield striker Chris Hall's 89th-minute effort ended up in the back of the net.

The 23-year-old said: "It's nice to get plaudits from fans, but keeping clean sheets is down to the team. The guys in front of me have been excellent, particularly our twin centre-backs Ryan Jordan and Ross McCabe.

"Everyone was hurting at losing the late goal, but now the only thing on our minds is to put together another run of shut-outs, hopefully starting at Bonnyrigg Rose in our Emirates Cup game on Saturday.

"The guys tell me we couldn't have asked for a tougher tie but, if we can go there and keep things tight, then I'm confident of us doing well."

The Clydebank-based shotstopper has been impressed by Junior football after being reinstated from Arbroath where he had ended up following spells with Dumbarton, Dundee and Hamilton.

He said: "The standard of Super Premier Division clubs is easily a match for the Irn-Bru Third Division and we have four or five players here who could step up, while the likes of Jordan Murch and Paul Woods have the ability to go even further.

"Another crack in the SFL would suit me fine, but I'd think long and hard over any move because I'm delighted to be back playing regularly.

"Petershill's approach to training and games is very professional and there's a great dressing room camaraderie, so it would take something very special to tempt me away."

Peasy co-boss Scott Smith paid tribute to his side's No.1 by labelling him the "transfer find of the season". He said: "Mikey has been nothing short of exceptional since coming here.

"He works in the same place as my fellow co-manager Willie Patterson, and was recommended a year ago, but signed for Arbroath.

"However, when things didn't work out he gave us first crack and one look was enough to know he was the business.

"To become Petershill's shut-out king is no more than he deserves."

On the Peasy injury front, experienced full-back Stewart Maxwell is facing six weeks out after limping off with a torn hamstring on Saturday, but midfielder Ryan Craig's ankle injury is just heavy bruising.

Maxi's absence is compensated for by the likely return of regular left-back Craig Palmer.
