Tony McInally today revealed he has brought Alan McKenzie back for a second spell at Pollok because the striker has unfinished business with the southside club.

The 26-year-old enjoyed major success when he played under McInally at Shotts Bon Accord.

And the Newlandsfield manager did not hesitate when it came to shelling out a substantial fee to prise McKenzie away from Auchinleck Talbot, where he had languished on the open-to-transfer list since midway through last season.

And the Lok boss is convinced Newlandsfield fans will see a much-improved player second time around.

He said: " I don't mind admitting it excites me to think about Alan coming back to Pollok with a point to prove.

"He was nothing more than a bit-part player here during Willie Irvine's time in charge and was considered no better than fourth-choice striker behind Iain Diack, Roddy Hunter and Kevin Bradley.

"To his credit, he went away and joined Shotts where playing regularly saw him learn a few lessons about the Junior game that he put to good effect in establishing himself as a key component in our Scottish Cup- winning side.

"He has become a forgotten man at Auchinleck, yet this time last season Alan was one of the most sought after strikers at Junior level.

"So I'm delighted to get him on board but, more importantly, he's over the moon at having the opportunity to pull on the Pollok No.9 shirt again."

One-time Alloa front- man McKenzie could be on the verge of being reunited with some of his former Shotts team- mates as McInally has been credited with a signing approach for skilful playmaker Colin Williamson, who is currently on the books of Cumnock.

And word from Hannah Park circles reckon combative midfielder Tam Hanlon - a Pollok player under John Richardson and recently linked with a move to relegated Rob Roy - could likewise be heading back to Newlandsfield.

Macca refused to be drawn on these fronts and neither did he own up to enquiring over the availability of Hurlford United pair Jamie Wilson and Calum Watt.

However, he did say pointedly: "Myself and my backroom team are very relaxed about how things are coming together on the playing front and you can take it as read that we will continue to try and make strengthening moves when opportunities arise.

"Williamson would be a great addition to our squad, but it doesn't help that he's held in the same high regard by Cumnock manager Brian McLuckie, so we have to keep our options open.

"In this regard, we have a few ex-Seniors with close to 500 first-team appearances between them coming in to do pre-season training and we are keen to see how they fit in with our thoughts."

Other confirmed Pollok newcomers include Scotland Amateurs goalkeeper Jordan Longmuir, who has been playing with crack amateur outfit Colville Park for the past two seasons after a four-year stint with Dundee United, and he is tipped to provide healthy competition to Ross Harkness (Wishaw) for the Pollok No.1 jersey.

McInally is equally enthusiastic about youngster Michael McGee, who has been called up from the Pollok Juvenile Under 21-team he captained last season.

The Lok gaffer added: "Jordan's signing will come as no surprise to people knowing he has trained with us for the past six months and to say we are pleased with his addition would be putting it mildly.

"Michael has caught the eye playing for the Under 21's either as a sitting midfielder or central defender.

"His mobility and natural athleticism make him the perfect foil for Willie Howie, whose great experience will hopefully rub off on the young man and we cannot wait to see how he measures up in a competitive Junior game."
