Gary Woodland and team-mate Matt Kuchar won the USA its 24th Omega Mission Hills World Cup success with a final-round 67 for a 24-under-par tally of 264 on the Blackstone course in Haikou.

England and Germany tied for second place, with the Scottish pair Martin Laird and Stephen Gallacher sharing fourth.

And Laird, who holed a bunker shot at the last in a round of 66 for a 21-under aggregate, said: "It was a great way to end the event. The funny thing is I was walking up the 18th and I thought to myself that this is going to be a similar shot I made on Thursday.

"It's always nice to see those shots go in and that almost summed up our day as Stephen and myself played well, and we also finally holed some putts."

Gallacher, who will remain in the Far East to play this week's UBS Hong Kong Open, added: "Six under is a brilliant knock in foursomes and Martin and I played great all day.

"We played pretty solid for four days but there was just the one day, on Saturday, where nothing went for us."

The England side of Ian Poulter and Justin Rose recorded the lowest final round of 63 to end on 22 under par alongside Germany's Martin Kaymer and Alex Cejka.

Overnight leaders Ireland finished disappointingly, as stars Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell carded a 72 to be the only nation in the leading 10 not to break par, which left them also tied for fourth.

Meanwhile, Scots Lloyd Saltman and Steven O'Hara face a return to qualifying school after disappointing finishes at the South Africa Open, which was won by home player Henri Otto.
