Stoke confirmed today that midfielder Charlie Adam is set to undergo a medical with them with a view to a permanent move from Liverpool.

The former Rangers midfielder arrived at the Potters' training ground this morning and it is believed the Staffordshire club are looking to pay around £4million for the 26-year-old, who Kenny Dalglish only signed for Liverpool last summer from Blackpool.

Adam had been a star performer for the Seasiders, but has struggled to make a significant impact at Anfield under Dalglish's successor Brendan Rodgers this season, making just one start for the Reds so far.

The Scotland international did not feature in the squad for Liverpool's Europa League qualifying play-off second-leg against Hearts last night and it now seems his time with the Merseyside club is coming to an end.

On a day of deadline-busting deals before the window shuts, Everton agreed a fee with FC Copenhagen for versatile Costa Rica international Bryan Oviedo.

Oviedo, 22, has been a regular starter for FCK after joining from Deportivo Saprissa in his homeland.

And Dutch star Rafael van der Vaart's time at Spurs is up after the club confirmed he was due to have a medical at former club Hamburg.

The move comes amid rumours that Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas was trying to hijack Fulham's bid to land Man United outcast Dimitar Berbatov, who once starred at White Hart Lane.
