Muller in media blast

THOMAS MULLER says the media have unrealistic expectations of the German team.

Joachim Low's side reached the last eight with three wins from a tough Group B, although their performances have arguably not been too impressive.

Bayern Munich's midfield man Muller finished top goalscorer in the World Cup two years ago, and expectations were high of him this time around.

He missed a chance in the 2-1 win over Denmark but believes he and the national team have deserved more praise than criticism in Poland and Ukraine.

"We get the feeling that, were we to win Euro 2012, we ought to be ashamed of doing so," he said. "Expectation is high after the World Cup (Germany finished third), but the two cannot be compared."

Germany face Greece in the last eight and Muller is thinking positive ahead of tomorrow's clash in Gdansk.

Asked if he would be able to tolerate a defeat, he said: "Not at all. If we were to go out, we would have to accept it, but we have not thought about it."
