Neil Lennon to home in on Rover Holmes

CELTIC have emerged as the front runners to land Tranmere Rovers full-back Danny Holmes this summer.

The 23-year-old has been attracting the attention of several top clubs.

Celtic and Rangers in Scotland and Barclays Premier League giants Liverpool have all been keeping tabs on the defender.

However, the crisis at Ibrox and the sacking of Kenny Dalglish as manager at Anfield has paved the way for the Hoops to sign him.

Holmes has admitted he would jump at the chance to join the Parkhead club.

He said: "I am a Tranmere player and I will continue to give 100% for the club.

"But I want to play at the highest level, and if a club as big as Celtic want me and agree a fee with Tranmere then I would move to Scotland."

Meanwhile, Bolton have beaten Celtic to the signing of Leicester City centre-half Matt Mills.
