FORMER Celtic keeper Artur Boruc insists he has put his crazy days behind him as he settles down to life on loan at AFC Bournemouth.

The 34-year-old Pole was shipped out to the Championship club by Southampton boss Ronald Koeman after the Dutchman snapped up his successor between the sticks at Parkhead, Fraser Forster, for £10million in August.

Boruc will remain with The Cherries until at least January but, with his contract with Saints due to end next summer, it seems certain he'll soon be on the move again.

But the madcap shot-stopper claims he has cut out the antics that saw him pick up fines from his club and the SFA as well as a police caution during his time at Celtic, where adoring fans nicknamed him "The Holy Goalie".

And the dad-of-two revealed that parenthood had helped to calm him down since his five incident-filled years in Glasgow from 2005 to 2010.

Boruc explained: "When you have kids and they start looking at you, you start thinking that is the time when you have to stop being that crazy guy. I'm a little quieter than I was a couple of years ago because life can treat you differently. I've had a couple of kicks in my eyes, but life has calmed me down."

Since arriving at Bournemouth last month Boruc has lost only two goals in six games, including last night's 3-0 home win over Reading. His efforts have helped The Cherries to four league wins and a draw plus progress into the last 16 of the League Cup.

After being snubbed by Koeman, Boruc took time to praise Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe for his part in their fine run of results.

He said: "I like the way the team plays. The manager wants us to play from the back and I really like that. We did it at Southampton last season with Mauricio Pochettino. If you do it well, it works unbelievably well. If the team presses you can create chances easily.

"That is what happens with us. The manager here at Bournemouth is a top-level manager. He is a great motivator and a great guy. The club has the right man in place so, hopefully, the team will follow. Bournemouth is a club with great ambition and that is what matters in my life.

"I am an ambitious guy and that is the reason I am here. I can see there is a good bunch of players at the club. They are improving all the time. Hopefully, we are going to do something really good this season."

As for his future, Boruc refused to commit himself past the end of his loan spell in January. But it seems almost certain he will move on from Saints next year.

The keeper, a sub for Poland in last week's Euro 2016 tie against Scotland, added: "I like to be in the action, that's why I probably need to leave Southampton if nothing is going to change there.

"I'm not the kind of person who can sit calmly on the bench just watching a game. Fraser Forster is a great goalkeeper, but that's just life."
