JIM DUFFY hopes his Morton attacking line will fire them into title contention this term.

Strike stars Declan McManus and Ross Caldwell combined to see off Peterhead at the weekend, with the Aberdeen kid bagging a brace before his forward partner clinched the points in a 3-1 win late on after he had replaced Peter McDonald at Balmoor.

The Ton host Stirling Albion at Cappielow tonight knowing victory could take them top of the table if League One leaders Stranraer slip up at Stenhousemuir.

And Greenock gaffer Duffy hopes Morton's attacking talent will give them the edge as the promotion race heats up this term.

He said: "It was two opportunist efforts [from Declan]. You have got to look at the contribution Ross Caldwell made.

"It is a good compliment and we have got options up front now that maybe we didn't have earlier on in the season.

"Even if you are not playing well, if you have got goal scorers in your team then you have always got a chance of winning and thankfully we had that on Saturday.

"We were one of the favourites at the start of the season but I can never figure out how someone suggests that. This league is so tight and so difficult.

"There are probably half a dozen teams, at least, that can win the league and we are one of them. We are in the mix and there is a long way to go.

"But we are in there challenging and hopefully we can do that right until the end of the season."
