SCOTLAND captain Gemma Fay says her side have nothing to fear from Italy or Holland in the 2015 Women's World Cup play-offs.

The Scots will be paired against one of the two higher seeded nations in Tuesday's draw.

Italy are the sixth-highest ranked side in Europe and Holland the seventh, with Scotland in 12th place.

Despite this, the Celtic goalkeeper is adamant her side can reach next summer's finals in Canada as the eighth and final Uefa qualifier.

"Italy and Holland will give us different challenges, but we have played them both recently and beaten them," Fay pointed out.

"We know what we can exploit and we know how to defend against them both.

"I'm quite happy with whoever we draw and we certainly don't have to fear either of them."

Ukraine are the fourth team in the play-off and could also meet Scotland if both sides win their opening double-headers against the top seeds next month.

The Ukrainians beat Wales 1-0 to qualify on Wednesday night and, with a ranking of 15th in Europe, are the outsiders of the quartet.

Fay, who made a terrific save to deny Swedish icon Lotta Schelin near the end of the first half in Gothenburg, took great heart from Scotland's performance in the second 45 minutes, even although they lost the Group 4 decider 2-0.

"Although Sweden are the third best side in Europe, it would have been difficult to tell which was the higher-ranked team in the second half," the captain said.

"That's what we're capable of - we just need to deliver it for longer periods of time. If Italy or Holland were watching our game we've given them both a bit of a headache."
