Feyenoord's Europa League match with AS Roma was suspended early in the second half due to crowd trouble with the the Italians leading 1-0 and the hosts down to 10 men in Rotterdam.

The referee led the players off the pitch in the 55th minute of the last 32 second leg match after the home fans threw objects on to the pitch, including a giant plastic banana, one minute after Feyenoord had Mitchell Te Vrede sent off.

The teams returned about 10 minutes later and almost immediately substitute Elvis Manu equalised for the Dutch side, but Gervinho put Roma 2-1 in front three minutes later which was the final score, giving them a 3-2 win on aggregate.

The match went ahead in a tense atmosphere after Feyenoord fans went on the rampage before last week's first leg in Rome, causing damage to a 500-year-old fountain.
